Funeral services for Bro. Joseph "Joe" Clarence Britt Jr., 79, of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, October 27 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Doyle Wilmoth officiating. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday morning 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Bro. Britt passed away Monday evening, October 24, 2016 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born February 9, 1937 in Putnam County, TN to the late Joseph Clarence Sr.and Elmus Thomas Britt. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alene Jones Britt, and brother, Leon Britt. Bro. Britt was a retired Church of Christ minister having served at Bussell Church of Christ in Cookeville, Gibson Avenue Church of Christ in Gainesboro, and McCoinsville Church of Christ in Jackson County. He was retired from Cookeville Coca Cola and was a long time Funeral Assistant with Dyer Funeral Home (now affiliated with Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home). Survivors include an uncle, two aunts, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will be pallbearers.
