Funeral services for Billy Joe Medley, 86 of Baxter will be Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 11A.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home interment with military honors will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Mr. Medley died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born September 23, 1925 in Silver Point to the late Columbus and Pearlie Sypert Medley. He was a retired Iron Worker with TVA and had worked on the Normandy Dam. He had served as Mayor of the City of Baxter from 1981 to 1986. He was a Marine Corps Veteran of WW2 serving in the South Pacific Theatre. In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by wife Peggy Campbell Medley on Dec. 9, 2000 and a granddaughter Joleen Amber Medley Eldridge on May 24, 2008. Survivors include 2 sons & daughters-in-law Billy D (Lela) Medley of Knoxville, Paul W. (Kathy) Medley of Baxter, 3 grandchildren: Mark and wife Marsha Medley, Chris and wife Tabitha Orrand and Randy Eldridge, 8 great-grandchildren Pallbearers will be family & friends. The family will receive friends at Baxter Chapel on Monday from 5 to 8 P.M. and after 9 A.M. on Tuesday. Bro Bruce Argo will officiate.
