John "Dale" Scott

Funeral services for Mr. John Burl "Dale" Scott, age 76 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, October 30th at 2:00 p.m. in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery in Overton County. Pastor Chris Blair will officiate.

His family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Scott died Friday October 28, 2022 at his residence.

He was born June 21, 1946 in Cookeville to the late Herman and Amanda Nash Scott

Dale worked as the Maintenance Director for Putnam County for 20 years. He was a skilled carpenter, builder and jack of many trades. His tireless work ethic, attention to detail and cleanliness were unmatched.

He has been a member of Eastwood Baptist Church since 1988, serving the church as a deacon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepson, Lance Clark; brothers, Joe Donald (Bo) Scott, James Herman Scott, Zach Hickey, Jimmy Scarlett,Buck Scott, and William C. Bill Herren; and by sisters, Willene Scimemi,, Pearl Smith, Reba Bumbalough and Josie B. Hickey.

Mr. Scott is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susie Murphy Scott; sons, Greg Scott and wife Dottie and Jason Scott and wife Robin; stepson, Travis Clark; grandchildren, Lexy Clark, Ryan Scott, Kaylee Clark, Chloe Clark, Izaiah Scott, JP Scott, Carter Scott, Mason Scott, Amelia Scott and Lance Clark; and by sisters, Ruth (Odell) Lafever, "Boo" (Ronnie) Jones, Doris Jackson and Corean Mabrey.

Dennis Maxwell, Steven Randolph, Kevin Lafever, Larry Buck, Izaiah Scott, Ryan Scott and JP Scott will serve as pallbearers.
