Funeral services for Mr. John Dominic Joseph, Sr., age 83 of Cookeville, will be held Monday, July 17th at 1:00 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Father Chad Puthoff will officiate. Mr. Joseph's family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. He died Saturday July 15, 2017 at NHC HealthCare Cookeville. He was born July 25, 1933 in Detroit, MI to the late Dumuth and Nahia Dwiahy Joseph. A marketing executive, John began his career working for Henning & Cheatle and Automated Marketing Systems in Detroit. After many years, he opened his own business, Joseph Marketing Resources in Southfield, MI where he worked until retirement. Generous and jovial, John had a loving and big heart. His presence lit up any room he was in. He was especially fond of children, especially his grandkids and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Jolet, Martha Pomilia, Josephine Backus, Adele Samonie; brothers, Joe Joseph and Michael Joseph; mother and father in law, Jack and Jessie Stewart; sister in law, Ruth Allison; and brothers in law, James Allison and Claude Gentry. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores Stewart Joseph; sons, John Joseph, Jr. of Whitehouse, TN and Jeffery Joseph of Lexington, KY; daughter, Catherine Mackey and husband Stiv of Cookeville; grandchildren, Michael J. Damron, Jake Mackey, John Joseph III, Lauren Joseph, Cadence Joseph and Caysen Joseph; great grandchild, Draco Damron; brothers, Thomas D. Joseph and wife Barbara and George A. Joseph and wife Betty, all of Detroit; sister in law, Billie Gentry; and brothers and sisters in law, Mary and Melvin Maxwell, Wanda and Mike Roth, Frank and Judy Stewart and Jack and Cathie Stewart. Jake Mackey, John Joseph III, Michael Damron, Charles Gentry, Mike Austin and Stewart Allison will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions are suggested in lieu of flowers to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pace, Memphis, TN 38105.
