Funeral services for John Vensaint West, 77 of Robbins, TN will be Sunday, May 29 at 7 pm (EDT) at the West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida, TN. Graveside services and interment will be Monday 10 a.m. (C.S.T.) at Cookeville City Cemetery. Masonic Memorial Services will be conducted Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. died Friday May 27, 2010 at his home. He was born September 29, 1933 in Robins, TN to the late John Wesley and Nora Reed West. He was an educator in the Scott County School System for over 44 years before retiring in 1998. He was a licensed pilot and a member of Scott County Airport Authority for over 20 years. He was a Master Mason with dual membership in both Scott County Lodge #670 F&AM and Stearns, KY Lodge #288 F&AM; member of York Rites Bodies and Scottish Rites Bodies; and also had dual membership in both Eastern Star Sunshine Chapter #279 in Robbins and Eastern Star of Stearns, KY. He was a member of Barton Chapel Congregational Church in Robbins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Roger Conat West who died at birth. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Judith Dyer West; and four brothers-in-law and their wives, Joe & Hae Dyer, Charles & Emogene Dyer, Gary & Sharon Dyer, and Bill & Pam Dyer all of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends Sunday from 4 p.m. (E.S.T.) until service time at West-Murley Funeral Home.
