Funeral services for Josie Alene Clayborn Maynard, 93, of Cookeville will be held Saturday, October 22 at 10 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Fabron Nicholson will officiate. Mrs. Maynard died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in Masters Health Care Center. She was born July 9, 1918 in Overton County, TN to the late Walter and Edna Coop Clayborn. Mrs. Maynard was a member of Rock Castle Church. She was a farmer, and enjoyed growing roses and gardening. She sold produce to several Cookeville grocery stores. She won two Putnam County Master Conservation Farmer awards, one with her late husband and one with her son Jimmy in 1992 for their farm on Mine Lick Creek Road. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford Maynard on December 25, 1982 and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Maynard is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenny Maynard and Roger Maynard both of Cookeville and Jimmy and Linda Maynard of Baxter; seven grandchildren, Marty Maynard, Teri Mitchell, Sheila Cooper, Anthony Maynard, Kevin Maynard, Pat Maynard, Jamme Littrell and Kyle Maynard, six great grandchildren, and a sister, Inus Vaughn of Ohio. The family will receive friends Friday 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
