Judy Denson

Funeral services for Judy Mathis Denson, 72 of Cookeville, will be Sunday, July 28 at 2 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Tim Sharp will officiate. Mrs. Denson died Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1947 in Putnam County to the late Lillian Mathis. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her son Tyler Denson, brothers-in-law Jerry Denson and Ewin Denson. She was a 1965 graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter and a graduate of Tennessee Tech University. She was a retired accountant with Hugh Bailey & Associates of Cookeville. She was a member of Boma First Church of God and the Jackson County Historical Society. She enjoyed working in her flowers and taking care of her cats. Survivors include her husband Shirlie Denson of Cookeville, cousins: Dewey (Sue) Mathis of Cookeville, Bobby (Carolyn) Mathis, Johnny (Cindy) Mathis, Jeffrey (Donna) Mathis all of Baxter, Melissa (Radford) Duke of Silver Point, special nephews: Joey (Tammy) Denson of Gainesboro and Jackie Denson of Arkansas, sisters-in-law Joyce Denson of Gainesboro and Mary Lou Denson of Livingston and many extended family members. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Sunday at the funeral home.
