Funeral services for Alfred Maxwell Jr., 91, of Baxter will be held Saturday, December 3 at 1 p.m. in the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Dr. Jimmy Arms will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until service time. Mr. Maxwell died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born January 26, 1920 in Putnam County, TN to the late Alfred and Mattie Lou Mitchell Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell was a member of the Baxter Church of Christ. He was a farmer and retired from Tennessee Tech University from the maintenance department with over 25 years of services. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ellawee Phillips Maxwell (who died March 25, 2004), two daughters, Wanda Sue Hensley and Saundra Bush, three sisters, Allie Saylors, Hazel Webb and Thelma Bussell, four brothers, Hollie Maxwell, Clay Maxwell, Clifford Maxwell and Howard Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell is survived by five grandchildren, Brent (Samantha) Bush of Grimsley; LeAnn (Phil) Martin of Baxter; Liz (Robert) Shanks of Cookeville; Larry (Cheryl) Hensley of Quebeck, TN; and Jeff Hensley of Baxter, fourteen great grandchildren, Amanda Hensley Payne, Roxann Baker and Tony Baker, Selena-Lee Hensley, Shania Hensley, Loren, Alexis and Kyle Martin, Breanna, Gracie, Mattie & Collier Bush, Carter & Caden Shanks, two great great grandchildren, Brayden Parker Hensley and Bentley Thomas Baker. Pallbearers will be Brent Bush, Jeff Hensley, Larry Hensley, Phil Martin, Robert Shanks and Lyle Daniels. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
