Funeral services for Mr. Claude Keith Wilmoth, age 78, of Cookeville will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday June 2 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. Interment will follow in the Phillips Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 - 8 p.m. and again Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. Mr. Wilmoth passed away Wednesday evening May 29, 2019 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. He was born July 14, 1940 in Cookeville, TN the late Claude E. and L. Pearl Freeman Wilmoth. He graduated from Cookeville Central High School (CHS) in 1958 and Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TTU) in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in business management. He worked as an insurance agent at his family business (Wilmoth Insurance) from age 16 until a few weeks before his death. He was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church and attended the Double Springs Presbyterian Church (USA). He was a youth leader and delegate to the Synod and General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). He was a member of Cookeville Jaycees and recognized as a Tennessee Jaycees Exhausted Rooster. He was on the board of the Insurors of Tennessee and a Regional Vice President. He was the President of local chapter of the American Cancer Society, and it was his honor to work with Sarah Cannon (Minnie Pearl) in her work to raise money for cancer research. He had a deep interest in classic cars and was a Charter member of the Piston's Car Club, as well as a member of the Ford Retractable Club, a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, and a member of the TC Automobile Club of America. He was an active member and a former board member of the Cookeville/Putnam County Chamber of Commerce. He was a volunteer and board member of the local Little League and Babe Ruth programs and helped sponsor teams. He also worked with Cane Creek Elementary School through his church and business as a benefactor and adopter. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 58 � years, Patricia Barwick Wilmoth, whom he married on Christmas Day, 1960; two sons, Larry (Dana) Wilmoth and Kevin Wilmoth all of Cookeville; two grandsons, Riley and Colin Wilmoth. A niece, Vickie Gail Wilmoth and family; nephew, Roger (Mary) Wilmoth and family; and sister-in-law, Robbie Brotherton Wilmoth; and numerous cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant brother, James Lee Wilmoth; brother, Kenneth Wilmoth; and great-niece, Marissa Wilmoth. Pallbearers will be Tom Riley, Hung Do, Alton Freeman, Gary Hensley, Michael McCormick, James Vivrette, and Roger Wilmoth. Honorary pallbearers, will be Mr. Steve Loftis, Mr. Lloyd Benning, Mr. and Mrs. Hill Carlen, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Greer, Mr. and Mrs. Wayland Hawkins, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hensley, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mattson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Riddle, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sutherland, Mrs. Glenda Thomas, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilmoth.
