Funeral Services for Kenneth Norman Haynes, age 85, of Cookeville will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 28 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service in the chapel of the funeral home. Mr. Haynes died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 24, 1927 in Saltville VA to the late William Ralph Haynes and Thelma Early Hogston. Mr. Haynes was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant. After his retirement Kenneth taught Culinary Arts for the Atlanta School Board where he was known as “Chef Haynes”. He loved playing golf with his buddies at Southern Hills. Kenneth is survived by two children: Gerald Haynes (Sandra Kerr) of Cookeville and Kendra Keller (Steve Roland) of Duluth GA. He is also survived by two sisters; Barbara (Jack) Borders of Cleveland TN and Linda Henderson of Saltville VA, as well as three brothers; Malcolm (Shirley) Haynes and Carl (Patsy) Haynes both of Saltville VA and Larry (Martha) Haynes of Johnson City TN. Kenneth is also survived by four grandchildren; Scott (Elizabeth) Haynes of Christiana TN, Brooke (David) Matthews of Cookeville, Trampis Keller of Duluth GA and Jordan Zachary of Norcross GA. along with five great-grandchildren; McKenzie Keller, Jaylin Zachary, William Haynes, Elizabeth Haynes and Heath Matthews. Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen Haynes, his parents, and two brothers, William Ralph Haynes and James “Red” Haynes. Brother Ken Haney will officiate the services.
