A graveside service for Mr. Millard Leon "Butch" Denson, age 80 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Berry Cemetery (also known as Ellis Cemetery) in the New Hope community of Jackson County. Donnie Bull will officiate.
Mr. Denson died Friday September 30, 2022 at Saint Thomas Hospital West Hospital in Nashville.
He was born April 20, 1942 in Jackson County, TN to the late Grover and Ova Ellis Denson.
Butch live a long, happy life in spite of complications received from tuberculosis at age 9. He enjoyed time spent fishing and on the farm. He was a jokester and enjoyed having a good time with friends and family. He has been a resident of Bethesda Healthcare for many years, and actively enjoyed the activities including regular bingo games and church services provided by the nursing home staff. He enjoyed living at Bethesda and his family is grateful for the excellent and loving care given to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Barbara Moss, Katherine Haney, Betty Thompson, Ozetta Maxwell, Lucille Horn and Wanda Dullworth; and by brothers, Wibert-Wilmoth Denson, Lonzo Denson and John Denson.
Butch is survived by a sister, Joyce "Edwina" Tayse; and by brothers, Joe Denson, Rodver Denson and Jerry Denson; and by a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
