COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Marie H. Dyer Slagle, 80, of Crossville, formerly of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 9, at the funeral home. Mrs. Slagle died Nov. 7, 2008, in Warton Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill. She was born July 4, 1928, in Putnam County to the late Lealer and Ethel West Dyer. Mrs. Slagle was a member of the Church of Christ and was retired from Red Cap Industries. Her family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Robert Hogue of Crossville; a brother and sister-in-law, Wendell and Jena Dyer of Cookeville; a sister, Pat Zachary of Cookeville; five grandchildren, Dwayne Hogue, Robin (Cissy) Dodson and husband Robert and Scott Hogue, all of Crossville, and Ryan Slagle and wife Amy and J.C. Slagle, all of Cookeville; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Eskell Slagle; a son, Lewis Ray Slagle; and two brothers, Lealer Dyer Jr. and David Newman. Pallbearers will be Dwayne and Scott Hogue, Robert Dodson, Ryan and J.C. Slagle and Gary Platz Jr. Bro. Johnny Fox will officiate at the services.
