Marie Sewell

Funeral Services for Marie Sewell, 85 of Baxter will be Saturday, Dec. 7 at 11 A.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with interment in Rock Springs Cemetery in the Buffalo Valley Community. Mrs. Sewell died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born September 6, 1928 in Putnam County to the late James Willard and Mildred Mae Amonette Maddux. She attended Rock Springs Methodist Church in her youth and was a graduate of Baxter Seminary. She owned and operated Marie's Beauty Shop in Baxter from 1959 until her health forced her to retire in 2010. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law Betty Jo and Morgan Sadler and a niece Charlene Leath. Survivors include her husband of 65 years Clarence Sewell (whom she married July 24, 1948 in Rossville, GA) and son Wayne Sewell both of Baxter, brother and sister-in-law Darryl and Shirley Maddux of Buffalo Valley, nieces and nephews: Linda Rose Tucker, Anna Robinson, Charlie Sadler, Don Sadler all of Gallatin, Scott Maddux of Maryville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Harold Ralph Maynard will officiate. Family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. and after 9 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
