COOKEVILLE-Mary Frances Carter, age 100 of Cookeville, Tennessee, was called to her heavenly home on
June 5, 2024, two weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends.
Mary Frances was born on May 18, 1924 in Putnam County to Walter Thurman Bullock and Dimple Huddleston Bullock. Mary Frances graduated from Central High School in Cookeville, Tennessee in 1943. Mary Frances married the love of her life, Charles M. Carter, (died February 13, 2017) on May 21, 1944 in Rossville, Georgia and enjoyed 72 years of a blessed marriage. Her devotion as a wife and mother to their three daughters was her most treasured job. In addition, Mary Frances served at the Brotherton Missionary Baptist Church for 34 years as a church clerk. She worked with youth groups, taught Bible school, sponsored church camps, and foreign missionaries as part of her ministry. She also worked for 17 years for the University of Tennessee’s Extension Program as a nutrition program assistant.
Mary Frances is survived by her three daughters, Joyce Marie Carter Daughtery (Albert Daughtery II), Rebecca Gay Lane (Dave Lane, deceased August 26, 2018), and Janice Louise Carter Blaylock (Jim Blaylock). Her grandchildren include: Cynthia Belfatto (Craig Belfatto), Al Daughtery III (Bridgette Daughtery), Mike Lane (Christy Lane), Emily Smith (Joey Smith), Bryan
Daughtery (Teona Daughtery, Wayne Blaylock (Audrey Blaylock), Amber Hoffert (Will Hoffert), and Megan Cooper (Michael Cooper). She is blessed with 13 great grandchildren.
Mary Frances is preceded in death by her father, Walter Thurman Bullock, Mother Dimple Huddleston Bullock, brothers, Dave H. Bullock and Charles R. Bullock, and sister, Betty Sue Newman.
Mary Frances’s life was a living example of one of her favorite verses, Psalm 106.1 - Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: For his mercy endureth forever.
Mary Frances services will be held at Hooper-Huddleston and Horner in Cookeville with visitation Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 10am-1pm, followed by her service at 1pm. Her final resting place is Mount Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery in Cookeville, Tennessee. Pastor Wade Givens will officiate.
