Mildred Gammill

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mildred Gammill, age 84, of Baxter, will be Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from noon until time of the service. Mrs. Gammill passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born April 29, 1928 in Putnam County TN to the late John C. Ashburn and Mary Dunn Ashburn. Mrs. Gammill loved her family, working in her flowers and watching the hummingbirds. She attended the Boiling Springs Baptist Church and while living in Michigan, Mildred was a member of the Eastern Star. Mildred is survived by her children; Ernest Dunn of Marine City MI, Reva J. Goodman of Baxter, Jim (Marie) Gammill of Winston Salem N.C., Laura Addis of Clinton Township MI, and Janice Lee Nowak of Old Hickory TN. In addition, she is survived by eleven grandchildren; Kelly, Bill, Lisa, Debbie, Ernie, Madison, Haley, Chelsie, Tyler, Gabrielle, and Paul, eleven great-grandchildren; Cody, Billy Jr., Alisha, Jesalyn, Levi, Kayla, Kristen, Alaina, Quinn, Liam and Ashley, and two great-great-grandchildren; Owen and Finley. Mrs. Gammill is also survived by two brothers; Roosevelt Ashburn of Baxter and Alfred (Faye) Ashburn of Cookeville; a sister-in-law Lorene Ashburn of Baxter, and three sisters and two brothers-in-law; Melba Allison of Detroit MI, Rose (Orby) Goff of Cookeville, and Nell (Carlyn) Thomas of Baxter. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Gammill, a brother, Albert Ashburn, a sister, Betty Sue Ashburn, a sister-in-law, Marylou Ashburn and a son-in-law, Freddie Goodman. Memorial gifts may be made to the Women’s Breast Cancer Center and the Pink Ribbon of Hope at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Bro. Tracy Gross will officiate the services.
