Mildred Varner

Graveside services and interment for Mildred Charletta Myers Varner will be at 1 p.m. Saturday October 17th at Bethlehem Cemetery in Livingston. She was born on November 10, 1956 in Livingston to Roselene Charlene (Myers) Darty and the late Walter Floyd Savage, Jr. Mildred accepted Christ at an early age. Mildred attended the Detroit Public School system. While in high school, Mildred matured and earned many academic accolades. Mildred graduated from Detroit Northwestern High School in 1973 graduating a whole academic year ahead of her class. After high school, Mildred attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and then later attended Detroit Institute of Technology studying Accounting and received a bachelor's degree in Business and Administration in 1978. Mildred was employed with the IRS for 34 years as a Revenue Agent, until her retirement in May 2015. She was joined in holy matrimony with Thomas Varner for 39 years. To this union two children were born, Dr. Ashley Varner and Amber Edwards. Mildred had many favorite hobbies including traveling and crocheting. She enjoyed most of all working in her garden and playing bingo. Mildred departed this life on October 3, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Floyd Savage; and siblings, Rosalind Varner and Anthony Savage. She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Roselene Charlene Darty; husband, Thomas Varner; children, Dr. Ashley Varner and Amber (Justin) Edwards; siblings, Kimberly (Thomas) Slone, Tangela (Louis) Broomfield, Darryl Varner, Richard (Kim) Savage, Odell Savage, Thomas (Linda) Savage, Troy (Linda) Savage, Ann Savage, Vonetta Fairley, Robbie (Jerry) Hayes and Juanita Cartwright; grandson, "My baby" August Nasir Edwards; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunt, uncles, cousins and friends.
