"My Mollie," as Mrs. Rogers was affectionately known, was 83, having been born in Des Moines, Iowa in July 7, 1936. She was reared in Jackson, Tennessee where she met Jimmy Rogers, her life long husband, dearest friend and constant admirer. The two were college freshman, age 19 and 18, when they were married on March 17, 1955. On February 15, 2020, death ended their beautiful, much-admired marriage one month shy of 65 years. Their union resulted in four sons: Tyler Howard Rogers, of Greensburg, Indiana, Wesley Alan Rogers (wife, Lori) of Smithville, Tennessee, Timothy Palmer Rogers (wife, Lisa) of Cookeville, and Andrew Wade Rogers (wife, Melody) of Smithville, Tennessee. They have 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mollie dropped out of college after one year in order to support Jim in his pursuit of an education in theology. She continued working as a medical transcriptionist until her retirement from the Upper Cumberland Orthopedic Surgery Group more than 20 years ago. Mollie had an abiding faith in God and love for the church. Although her now stilled voice was never strong, when she sang songs of the faith, it was beautiful. She loved everyone, and had a special place in her heart for family and friends, even to the end. Alzheimer's disease began attacking her once vibrant brain some six years ago. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in her honor to Alzheimer TN, 390 S. Lowe Ave. Suite I, Cookeville, TN. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home will be the site of her memorial service on Thursday, February 20, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, and from noon until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. The family is grateful to those at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and Signature Healthcare of Putnam County in Algood who tenderly cared for her. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111 Share your thoughts and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
