Funeral Services for Mrs. Anna Sue Maxwell, age 72, of Cookeville will be Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from Noon until time of the service. Mrs. Maxwell passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born October 14, 1943 in Baxter TN to the late Haskel D. and Vera Lee Goolsby Davis. Anna was a faithful member of the Wilhite Baptist Church and her ministry was comforting others and offering kind words of encouragement whenever she could. She was a great cook with a very strong will, and loved her children and grandchildren passionately. Anna is survived by three children; Mitsy (husband Randy) Smith of Louisville KY, John Maxwell and Beth (husband Robb) Garner both of Cookeville. In addition, Mrs. Maxwell is survived by two brothers; Rodger Davis of Murfreesboro and Jimmy (wife Sherry) Davis of Carthage and one sister, Ruby Draper of Cookeville as well as six grandchildren; Meagan Littrell, Stephen Smith, Corey Garner, Austin Garner, Will Garner and Isabel Garner. She was great-grandmother to two beautiful babies; Jude and Canaan Littrell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maxwell was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Thurman Maxwell, two brothers; Haskel Davis Jr. and J.T. Davis, and three sisters; Jean Dildine, Louise Davis, and Frances “Bea” Farris. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bro. Tim Miles and Bro. Rodger Davis will officiate the services.
