Norma Jean Verble died peacefully in her home on December 27th, 2020 in Las Vegas NV, at the age of 82. Norma is survived by her husband, Hoover Verble, and children, Cynthia Burns, Danny Murphy, Kelvin Verble and Karolyn Witcher, son-in-law’s and daughter-in-law’s, eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Lou Lee of Hillham Tennessee, three brothers and one sister, and two grandchildren. Norma was born on July 29th, 1938 in Hilham, Tennessee to Hugh and Lou Vester Lee. She married Hoover, after meeting in a pants factory in 1960 in Cookeville Tennessee. After moving to Detroit MI, Norma began working for General Motors as a sewing machine operator. Over the years, the couple welcomed 4 children into their home. Two children from Norma’s first marriage, Cynthia and Danny, and two from her marriage to Hoover, Kelvin and Karolyn. Her children remember her as a kind and gentle mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She made every holiday a special time where she cooked and opened their home to all. Norma and Hoover were baptized at New Prospect Baptist Church in July 1975. After retirement Norma and Hoover relocated to Las Vegas Nevada in 2002 where she remained until her death. Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 AM at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment followed at Lyles Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
