Pat passed away Tuesday afternoon December 8, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 20, 1934 in Nashville, TN to the late Lacy Monroe and Eralee Hickerson Wallace. Pat grew up in several locations but considered Water Valley, MS, his childhood home. He moved to Russellville, KY, while in high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served honorably for four years. He then attended Western Kentucky University (WKU) and was accepted to Cumberland University School of Law in Lebanon, TN, just before graduation from WKU. He came to Cookeville in 1962 immediately upon completion of law school and practiced law for a couple of years before joining the Bowser Briggs Company and later Keen Corporation managing contracts, especially with the U.S. government. In 1975, he formed his own company, GIL INC (God Is Love I Need Christ) which furnishes filtration equipment and parts to the U.S. and foreign governments. He continued working until his passing. Over his lifetime Pat enjoyed fishing, hunting, quarter horses, high school football and basketball, and wearing a hat for his favorite football team. He was pleased to pass along a love for these activities and they are now enjoyed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. None of these hobbies are as significant as his love for Jesus and hungry hurting people. He wanted his legacy to be that he had made a difference in people's lives and that the love of Jesus could be seen through his life. He recently sent an editorial to the newspaper encouraging churches to be doers of the word and get involved in whatever could be done to minister to patients in nursing homes during these restrictive times. He was bold and tenacious in his work for the Lord and often would shout out when he saw others he knew, "Do you love Jesus?" Pat worshipped at New Beginnings Fellowship Church. He is survived by his wife Linda Wallace, whom he married July 9, 1983; daughter, Janet (Ronald) Smith of Bunnell, FL, and Patty (Jim) Short of Cookeville; sister, Marjorie Clare Williamson of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, Justin (Jeri) Chaffin, Amy (Jimmy) Watkins, Patrick (Jennifer) Short, Jake (Kristin) Short; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Eugene Wallace. Pallbearers will be Justin Chaffin, Patrick and Jake Short, Tommy West, Eddie McDonald, David Smuin, and Scott Hughes.
