Patrick Randolph

November 24, 1978 — August 31, 2020

Mr. Patrick Clay Randolph, 41, of Cookeville, TN, passed away on August 31, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Pat, as he was known to many, was born in Cookeville, TN to Debbie Bella and Terry Randolph on November 24th, 1978. He was born with down syndrome and was diagnosed with ALS in 2018, but neither ever stopped him from living a full, fun-filled, love-packed life. Patrick loved sports and played many including football, basketball, softball, swimming, wrestling and golf. He was a faithful fan and attended as many sporting events of his family members that he could, seldom missing a game. He loved the WWE with one of his favorite wrestlers being John Cena. He was not, however, a fan of The Rock after the wrestler's departure from the WWE. Patrick loved movies, especially the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies and specifically Rocky IV. He could quote nearly every line and could act out most every choreographed fight scene of his favorite movies. Patrick loved music and loved to dance. He rarely ventured off to one of his favorite places to visit, the beach, without his boombox in hand. He loved to dance to any music but he specifically enjoyed dancing to “Thriller”, “The Electric Slide” and “Macarena.” Pat commanded the dance floor, and the ladies, at any wedding he attended. He once had an entire beach condo cheering him on as he did the “Macarena” near the pool. More than his dancing or his love of sports, Pat will most be remembered for the love that he shared with everyone that he came in contact with, especially his family. He had an infectious smile that would light up any room. He gave the biggest and best hugs to family and friends. Patrick never met a stranger and everyone was a friend. Pat lived a life that so many of us desire to live because of the love that he shared. Although he faced challenges that few of us can relate to, Patrick pressed on and remained stronger than many of us ever could. He didn’t let it stop him and he made no excuses. He made the most of his time and enjoyed the simple things in life. Patrick lived a wonderful life and his presence will be dearly missed in the lives of all that knew him. He is survived by mother and step-father, Debbie and John Bella; father and step-mother, Terry and Tephany Randolph; sister and brother-in-law, Leslie and John Newman; and brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Andrea Randolph. He was also a proud uncle to niece and nephews Scott, Clay and Lynnsey Newman and Leaman and Asher Randolph. He is also survived by step-brother, Austin Bates and step-sister, Paige Baker, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Patrick is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Bobby and Carolyn Holloway, and his paternal grandparents, Clayton and Freeda Randolph. The family will receive friends Friday, September 4 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday morning, September 5 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will also be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s ALS division in Nashville, 783 Old Hickory Blvd, #300W, Brentwood, TN 37027 or to the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee, 1310 Central Court, Hermitage, TN 37076.
