Funeral services for Mrs. Paula Jean Pointer, 83 of Donelson and formerly of Algood, will be held Friday January 17 at 1 p.m. in the Algood Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Paran Cemetery in Overton County. Rev. Brent Davis will officiate. Mrs. Pointer died Monday evening January 13, 2014 in Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She was born March 29, 1930 in Overton County, Tennessee to the late Hobart Uhl and Delta Bowers Qualls. She was a 50-year member of Pennington United Methodist Church and a long-time faithful member of the Pennington Homemakers Club. Mrs. Pointer was a loving Christian wife and mother and she and her husband, Frank Pointer (whom she married December 25, 1948 in Rossville, GA) celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Christmas Day. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Chris Johnson of Hermitage; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Lynn Pointer of Charlotte, TN, Kevin and Tracy Pointer of Mt. Juliet; six grandchildren, Frank "Mac" (Paige) Pointer IV, Claire Pointer, Shannon (Michael) Roll, Elliot Johnson, Kaitlin Pointer, and Trevin Pointer; great granddaughter, Emma Pointer; and sister, Barbara Phifer of Rocky Mount, GA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Pointer's family will receive friends Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pennington United Methodist (2745 Pennington Bend Road, Donelson), and Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the Alood Chapel.
