Funeral Services for Pauline Henry Herren, age 93, of Cookeville, will be Tuesday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, June 23, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Herren passed away Sunday June 23, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Pauline was born October 10, 1919 in Sparta, TN. to the late Irvin Monroe Henry and Maudie Jane Cravens Henry. She married Arvel Herren on June 27, 1942. As a young woman, Pauline worked at the shirt factory, after marring Arvel, they opened a little general store in Baxter. They moved to Cookeville and she worked at Wilson Sporting Goods for almost 30 years. She was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ and helped with the Willow Meals, Sewing Group and World Bible School. She and her husband also served as relief house parents for Happy Haven Children’s Home for many years. After retireing, she spent more time with her garden, taking care of others and making quilts. Pauline is survived by one brother; Clarence Henry of Morrison TN, two sisters; Beulah Howel and Treva Geer both of Sparta, TN. She is also survived by special double nieces and nephew; Martha and Bob Dyer (Caregivers) of Cookeville TN, Charlene and David Ottinger of Knoxville TN, Phyllis And Leo Sisco of Grove OK, Dale and Sarah Henry of Ft. Worth, TX, special niece; Sue Ann Smith of Cookeville TN, special nephew; Mike Henry of Cookeville TN, special foster children; Judy Raymer of KY, Edna Whitmore of MI, Donna Kinnaird of Cookeville TN, many other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Arvel E. Herren, three brothers; Morgan, Willard and Clifford Henry, and one sister; Dimple Britt. The family would like to thank the Caris Hospice Group , expecially Lisa, who made her laugh and made her feel so special; Carla, who helped Martha take care of her; the hospital’s 6th- Floor nurses; Dr. Barlow, who was so kind; and all the members of Willow Avenue Church of Christ who were so good to visit and send cards.
