Pearl Flatt Cockrum

February 9, 1932 — September 11, 2020

On September 11, 2020, Pearl Cockrum, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of 88. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Monday September 14 at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. (EST) Tuesday September 15 at Roane Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing measures will be in place. Pearl was born on February 9, 1932 in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, to the late Alvis and Ruth Lively. She was the eighth of nine children and is survived by her brother, Frank Lively, of Knoxville. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Wayne Flatt and seven siblings. She married Marvin C. Flatt on March 24, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1989. Pearl loved to travel and on a chartered trip to California, she met her second husband, George Cockrum, and they enjoyed many years of traveling together until his death on September 21, 2010. Pearl was a former member of Double Springs Church of Christ and later became a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ although her health kept her from attending for several years. She is survived by her children, Gail (Dave) Montgomery of Utica, Michigan, Connie (Dennis) Maxwell of Baxter, Pam (Andy) Bouton of Cookeville, and Mark (Michelle) Flatt of Seymour. Also surviving are grandchildren Jodi (Bryan) Willhite, Jay (Brye) Montgomery, Jesse (Tasha) Maxwell, Brad (Robyn) Maxwell, Levi (Holly) Bouton, Andrea (Eric) Williams, Jacob ( Rachel) Bouton, Spencer (Jensen) Bouton, Ben (Matilda) Bouton, Madison Flatt and Colby Flatt. Also, 13 great grandchildren, with number 14 arriving September 2020, and four step great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Morningside Assisted Living for all the time, dedication and love given to mom over the last four years.
