Funeral services for Mr. Richard "Rick" Dewayne Burgess, age 62 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at Life Church Cookeville. Pastor Eddie Turner will officiate. Interment will follow in Bear Creek Cemetery. His family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Burgess died Tuesday December 7, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born August 10, 1959 in Putnam County, TN to the late Melbon James Burgess and Gladys Thompson Burgess. Rick was a Christian by faith. He was a jack of all trades. He dabbled in carpentry, automotive and electrical work. He enjoyed traveling, star grazing, and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Chris Harness Burgess; daughters, Kristie (Jason) Jernigan and Jennifer (Ricky) Green; grandchildren, Clay (Macy) Jernigan, Holly Green, Maddux Green and Dani Jernigan; brother, Gary (Jeanie) Burgess; sister, Connie (Harold) Simcox; aunts, Geneva Davis and Sue (Bud) Cobble; sister-in-law, Pattie Burgess, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jaime Burgess and Greg Burgess. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
