Funeral Services for Roy Lee Herd, 75 of Lebanon, Tn. formerly of Silver Point will be Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with interment in Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community. Mr. Herd died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at University Medical Center in Lebanon. He was born February 11, 1936 in Silver Point to the late Baxter and Millie Palmer Herd. He was a retired barber. He started in 1959 in Sparta and Cookeville and later owned and operated his own shop, Herd"�s Barber Shop in Baxter and Boma from 1969 to 1990. He attended Silver Point Baptist Church and Full Gospel Tabernacle in Lebanon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rubye Mae Roberts Herd on September 12, 1999, 2 sisters Eva Herd and Elene Bryant. Survivors include daughter & son-in-law Gayla & Tony McBroom of Cookeville; son Roy Michael Herd of Silver Point; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oneil and Rose Herd of Warren, MI; R.V. and Nadine Herd of White, GA; Corbit and Joyce Herd of Jackson County, TN; and Aaron and Veronica Herd of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Anthony and Andrew McBroom and Katie Herd. Special partner and caregiver, Claudine Crawford of Lebanon. Family will receive friends Tuesday 4 to 8 P.M. and after 10 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Anthony and Andrew McBroom, Jr. Roberts, Glen Thomas Crawford, Danny Armistead, Mark Herd and Tommy Roberts.
