Ruth Coomer

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Irene Haile Coomer, age 98 of Cookeville, will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Fox and Horace Burks officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Coomer died Monday morning, November 30, 2015 at Bethesda Health Care in Cookeville. She was born May 5, 1917 in Jackson County, TN to the late James Frank and Lillie Birdwell Haile. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in by her husband, William Coomer (who died January 7, 1979); sister, Mary Effie Brown; and step-mother, Willie Rogers Haile. Mrs. Coomer was a long-time member of Sycamore Church of Christ. She was a former employee of Cookeville Shirt Factory and a retired associate of Wilson's Sporting Goods. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Coomer of Cookeville, two sisters-in-law: Maggie Billingsley & Lola Flatt both of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews. Special attention through the years to Aunt Ruth came from the loving care of Nancy & Denny Landis and Melba & Ralph Bryant. Pallbearers will be members of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Sycamore Church of Christ Building Fund (1144 Crescent Drive Cookeville, TN 38501).
