Sara Frances "Aunt Sissy" Clark, 90, of Cookeville died at home on October 9, 2011. She was born in Murfreesboro, TN, to the late Tolbert Fanning and Willie Zoe Kerr, and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. John B. Clark, Jr., their infant son, and her sister, Kathryn Compton. Mrs. Clark earned her B.S. degree in chemistry at Tennessee College (now Belmont University), and her M.A. degree in education at George Peabody College. She taught high school chemistry several years before becoming director of the nursery school department at Tennessee Technological University, a position she held for 25 years. Mrs. Clark enjoyed cooking, hospitality, family gatherings, and traveling. She played bridge with a local club for over 50 years. She was a member of Collegeside Church of Christ. Remembering her clear blue eyes and ready smile are her nieces Susan Holland and Kathy Cypert; her great-nephews Samuel Cypert and Paul Holland: her great-nieces Amanda Carter and Emily Newman; her great-great nephews Jude Newman, Dolan Newman, and Sylvain Newman; and her great-great niece, Langley Carter.
