Sarah B. Khleif was born on August 28th 1935, the only child to parents Max and Kathleen Boyles, in Statesville, North Carolina. She grew up in Elkin, NC where she graduated from Elkin High School in 1952. After graduation, she continued her education by attending The University of North Carolina- Greensboro, where, she pursued a degree in Social Science. There, she graduated with honors in 1956. Sarah was a true lover of music and played the clarinet in both the high school and college bands. While employed as a social worker for Montrose School for Girls in Baltimore County, MD, she met and eventually married S.B. Khleif. Sarah gave birth to two sons, Jeffrey and Michael, and eventually settled in Cookeville, TN in 1969. She continued in her love for music by being one of the founding members of the choral group known as the "Mastersingers". She also sang in the choir for her beloved church, St. Michael's Episcopal Church. She was very active in both the church and the community, and relished in helping others. She substitute taught at many of the local elementary schools before finding her niche as a special education instructor at Northeast Elementary School. Sarah continued her education by attending and receiving her master's degree in education from Tennessee Tech University. At TTU, she became a well-loved and respected advisor in the College of Business until her retirement in 2013. Her life long best friend S.B. Khleif, her sons, Jeffrey and Michael, and her grandsons, Tyler, Cameron, and Wiley survive her. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, July 24th from 5pm until 7pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. A burial service will be held Saturday, July 25th at 12pm at St. Michael's Episcopal Church. A reception for friends and family will follow the service at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 640 N Washington Ave., Cookeville, TN 38501.
