Funeral services for Sarah Ruth Stewart, 88 of Gallatin and formerly of Cookeville, will be Sunday, August 30 at 4 PM at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 PM until service time. Ken Stewart and Judy Seals will officiate. Honors will be provided by Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls Community. Mrs. Stewart died Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. She was born August 2, 1932 in McMinnville to the late Floyd Wilson Freeman and Fannie Elizabeth Simon Freeman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance William Stewart on August 11, 1996, sisters Maxine Dodd, Dorothy Martin, Gladys Martin, Mary Bouldin, Louise Bouldin and Pauline Roach, brothers Charles, Edward and James Freeman. She was a retired LPN with Cookeville General Hospital ( Now Cookeville Regional Medical Center) in Labor & Delivery. Survivors include daughters Sherrie (Rick) Daniels of League City, Texas, Joy Magness and Sally (Tim) Pitt all of Gallatin, son Andy Stewart of Maryville, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers will be Tim Pitt, Jacob Ward, Andrew Shuff, Jake Wilson, Carlos Claros and Robert Whitlow. Due to COVID-19 social distancing will be observed.
