Solen Sherrell

Funeral services for Solen Ardell Sherrell, age 79, of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday October 19 at Dyer Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Gaw will officiate. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 - 8 p.m and again Saturday from 11 a.m. Solen passed away Thursday morning October 17, 2019 at St Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. He was born November 5, 1939 in White County, TN to the late Verble and Blanche Cason Sherrell. Solen was a member and deacon at Washington Avenue Baptist Church. He was a former home builder and retired from Universal Plastics. Solen was a lifelong sports fan. He graduated from Central High School in 1958 where he played football. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Neda Ashburn Sherrell, whom he married June 30, 1962; son, Bo (Elaina) Sherrell of Cookeville; granddaughter, Cameron (Dylan) Brown; nieces, Sandra Bingham (fiance, Tracey Mullins), Kristi (Eddie) Randolph, Lisa Whitehead, Jackie Smith; nephews, Robin Smith, Tim Smith, Jeff (Amy) Smith; sisters-in-law, Ruth Sherrell, Helen Lafever, Lorell Rhoten, Debbie (Rick) Wheeler; brothers-in-law, Ernest Ashburn (Faye), Thurman Ashburn (Claudia), Ronald Ashburn; and Solen's furry friends, Cody and Mufffin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Jean Sherrell; brother, Olen Sherrell; Pallbearers will be friends and family.
