Sue Howell

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Sue Bates Howell, age 79 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday November 22 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Algood City Cemetery. Rev. Frank Davis will officiate. Sue's family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. She died Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2017 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Sue was born Monday August 29, 1938 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Estel Martin and Pansy Pearl Freeman Ramsey. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and a Graduate of Algood High School. Sue worked for over 30 years at Bob's Shop for Men and retired from J C Penny's in Cookeville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Ercal Bates and Winnell Howell; and sister, Rebecca Warren. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Judy Bates of Cookeville; sister Gay Nell (Ralph) Phillips of Rickman; niece, Lisa Cantrell and three nephews, Caleb Carr, Chris and Joe Warren.
