Susan Scarlett

Funeral services for Susan Lynn Scarlett, 72 of Cookeville, were held Tuesday, February 23 at 2 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Bro. John Chowning officiated. The family received friends Monday from 6 to 8 PM and from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19, social distancing measures were observed. Mrs. Scarlett died Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born September 1, 1948 in Waverly, TN to the late William Leon and Lois Kathryn Story Sanders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Kirk. She was a graduate of Waverly Central High School and a 1975 graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Susan was a member of Algood Church of Christ. She was a retired auditor with the State of Tennessee in the Labor and Work Force Development. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family, especially the grandkids. Survivors include husband of almost 52 years (Married March 15, 1969 in Waverly, TN) Jimmy Scarlett of Cookeville, daughter Shannon (Joseph) Ross of Cookeville, sons James Felix (Rachel) Scarlett of Livingston, Matthew Leon (Heather) Scarlett of Jonesboro, Arkansas, brother Tony (Freida) Sanders of Waverly, grandchildren: Josie Ross, Amelia Scarlett, Kathryn Scarlett, Kendyll Scarlett, Griffin Scarlett and Cameron Scarlett. Active Pallbearers were Griffin and Cameron Scarlett, Kyle and Brent Sanders, Codi Lynn and Ron Brown, Honorary Pallbearer was Rick Baker.
