BAXTER-Funeral services for James Taylor Palmer, 94 of Silver Point, will be Thursday, January 12 at 11 AM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Palmer passed away Monday night, January 9, 2017 at his home. He was born September 14, 1922 in Silver Point to the late John Byrd and Rettie Arizona Wallace Palmer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Dobbs Palmer on December 3, 1975, granddaughter Stephanie Lee Haney, sisters Ruby Palmer, Vora Roberts, Lorene Glover and Carrie Medley, brothers Clyde, Howard and Peay Palmer. He was an Army Veteran of WW2, serving in the 101st Airborne from 1943 to 1945. He was a member of Herren's Chapel Church of Christ. He loved being with family and friends, especially the grandchildren. He loved volleyball, farming and taking walks. Survivors include daughters and sons in-law Jeanette and Dennis Haney, Jennifer Miller, Julana and Phil Loftis, Jacylon and Carl Bandy , sons and daughters-in-law Jeff and Gaile Palmer, Jerry and Anna Palmer all of Silver Point, grandchildren: Michael Palmer, Amy Randolph, Jason Palmer, Joshua Palmer, Nikki Smith, Kellie Waite, Courtney Palmer, Derik Miller, Jonathan Loftis, Morgan, Ronnie, Phillip and Jeremy Bandy, great-grandchildren: Cali Palmer, Eli, Maddie and Colt Randolph, Cayden Maddle, Jayla Palmer, Jackson Palmer, Allie Ballentine, Emilee Smith, Blake Waite and Emily Roach, Caregivers: Tish Waller, Kim Pitman, Gina Bradford, Wanda Stafford, Jenna Ellis and Patsy Ballard, special neighbors Jim and Connie Gourley, several nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers will be Michael, Josh and Jason Palmer, Derik Miller, Jonathan Loftis and Eli Randolph. Honorary Pallbearers will be Colt Randolph, Jackson Palmer, Cayden Maddle, Blake Waite, Steve Palmer, Dennis Palmer, Ronnie, Perry, John and Rick Medley, Ronnie, Phillip and Jeremy Bandy. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM and again after 9 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Bro. Charles West and Bro. Chris Ramsey will officiate.
