Ted Burgess

Funeral services for Ted Burgess, 75 of Silver Point will be Wednesday, March 27 at 11 A.M. at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home Interment, with military honors, will follow in Stewart Cemetery in the Holladay Community. Rev. Morgan Wallace and Rev. Tony Crow will officiate with his brother Fred Burgess delivering the Eulogy. Mr. Burgess died Friday afternoon, March 22, 2013 at his home. He was born February 12, 1938 in Putnam County to the late David Isaac and Lela Hicks Burgess. He was a retired Construction Foreman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Waulene Burgess, Carolyn Ruth Burgess and Dorothy Ann Burgess; brothers, Paul Burgess and Roy Burgess, brother-in-law Charles Cobb. He was a member of the Mattie Smith Presbyterian Church in Silver Point and a U. S. Army Veteran serving 1960-1962 in Stuttgart, Germany. Survivors include wife of 48 year Linda Sue Wallace Burgess (whom he married April 18, 1964 in Silver Point), daughter and son-in-law Annette (Kevin) Maynard of Silver Point, son and daughter-in-law Steve (Susan) Burgess of Gainesboro, two sisters and a brother-in-law Martha Pearl Cobb of Maryville, Betty ( Gordon) Presley of Algood, brother and sister-in-law Fred ( Michele) Burgess of Trafalgar, IND, six grandchildren: Emily Burgess, Zeke Burgess, Elijah Maynard, Haley Maynard, Brandon (Margaux) Maynard and Stacy Maynard, two sisters-in-law Lois Burgess of Cookeville and Jackie Burgess of Mayfield, KY, several nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers will be Elijah and Brandon Maynard, Tim and Mike Burgess, Scott Capps and Scott Maddux Memorial Contributions may be made to Mattie Smith Presbyterian Church, 14137 Tucker Ridge Road, Silver Point, TN 38582 or to the charity of choice. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 3 to 8 P.M. and after 9 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
