A memorial service for Mrs. Thelma Loftis, age 89 of Gainesboro, will be held Saturday, December 5th at 1 p.m. from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Donald Bryant and Bro. Les Ditto will officiate. Mr. Loftis' family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Thelma died Thursday November 26, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 23, 1925 in Lakeland, FL to the late Henry W. and Zetty Worley Howard. Thelma was a devoted homemaker to her family as she enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. She had the heart of an angel, and her happy, joyous and generosity will be remembered and dearly missed. She worried about everyone but herself and often stated "yuns be careful and take care of yourself." In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Carlis Thomas Loftis; and by a son-in-law, Robert Horner. She is survived by her son, Larry Thomas Loftis; daughter, Barbara Horner, both of Cookeville; sisters, Margaret Russell of Cookeville and Loraine Mahan of Baxter; grandchildren, Amber Loftis, Angie Taylor, Tabitha Horton, Tarah Papacsi and Tracie Craighead; and by ten great grandchildren.
