A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Truman Edward Stearnes, 82, of Gainesboro will be held Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain Chapel Minstrities in Gainesboro. Pastor Truman B. Stearnes will officiate. Truman passed away Monday, March 2, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 2, 1937 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late W.V. Stearnes and Lilllie Stearnes Outen. Born the youngest of five siblings, Truman and his siblings were always provided for by their Momma. He lived a blessed life some would call "charmed!" He was taught by his Momma to play the banjo, and he was truly gifted by God on any musical instrument he touched. Whether song-writing, playing music, selling real estate, acting, painting, creating pottery, golfing, making wine or fishing, Truman excelled in all he did. Most of all, he loved Jesus and the Father and his family. All the lives he touched were made better. He is survived by his son, Truman B. Stearnes and fiance' Sheri Stearnes of Gainesboro, TN; five grandchildren: Ella Gray of Portland, OR, Alex Stearnes Workman of Louisville KY, Thomas Stearnes of Dahlonega GA, Scott Corbin and Amanda Henry both of Cookeville, and a passel of great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Frontis Outen;, grandson, Jeremiah Stearnes; wives, Ruby Fay Bates Stearnes and Peggy Stearnes, daughter Lisa Y. Stearnes, siblings, Ann Stearnes, Maggie Stearnes Hoover, Donald Stearnes, Alvin Odell Stearnes, and William Mearl Stearnes. Dyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
