BAXTER-Funeral services for Vallie Mae Goodman Huddleston, 84 of Baxter, will be Friday, September 11 at 2 P.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with interment in the Smellage Memory Gardens in the Boma Community. Mrs. Huddleston passed away, Monday, September 7, 2015 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 16, 1931 in Silver Point, TN to the late Jethroe "J.R." and Mary Jane Markham Goodman. She was a homemaker and member of Baxter Crossroads Church of God. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a child of God since she was nine years old. She loved her family dearly. When many in her family needed assurance, they would seek prayer from her and went away aware that God heard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ray Huddleston (whom she married on October 10, 1946) and by a son Walter Whitson Huddleston. Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law Lorene and Steven Morgan of Brentwood, Linda and David Lalone of Cookeville, Debbie and Ronald Bowers of Baxter, Sandy Huddleston of Brentwood and Wanda and Eddie Williams of Gainesboro, five sons and daughters-in-law Carlos Ray and Rose Huddleston of Baxter, James Michael and Deb Huddleston of Gordonsville, Billy Joe and Sherrie Huddleston of Algood, Robert Daniel and Joyce Huddleston of Cookeville and Terry Lynn and Suzan Huddleston of Knoxville, 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. Many loved nieces and nephews. Bishop Richard Felts will officiate. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends Thursday from 3 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Friday at the funeral home.
