Vance Allen

April 15, 1921 — January 5, 2021

Vance Allen, Jr. 99, of Cookeville, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. A private family service was held Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Private interment followed at Shipley Cemetery. Pastor Ron Allen officiated. Vance, better known as "Junebug", to family and friends was born April 15, 1921 in Cookeville to the late Vance Sr. and Minnie Rodgers Allen. Mr. Allen worked at various jobs throughout his life and retired from Tennessee Tech University in maintenance. He served in the military, loved being outside working in his garden and was still very active in his senior years exploring and climbing the hillsides. Survivors include wife, Eva Ruth Allen, daughter Carol (Max) Carter, sons Clyde (Pat) Allen, Shane (Karen) Allen all of Cookeville, sisters Nina Labistada of Cookeville, Pearl (Ed) Herren of South Carolina, grandchildren: Andrea Allen, Chris Allen and Sam Allen all of Cookeville, Evan (Mary) Allen of Murfreesboro, Claire (Ian) Bass of Chattanooga, Paul Allen of Nashville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Judy Lowenstein, sisters Reva Olenick and Erma Lindsey, brothers Draper, Cooper, Frazier, Floyd and Harold Dean Allen. The family would like to extend a very special "Thank You" to Mr. Allen's caregivers, Crystal Romines and Pat Sullivan, who were always very kind and loving to Jr. Special "Thank You" to Dr. Ernest Buchanan, his nurse Britny Wright and staff, for all the care extended to "Junebug" as well.
