Vera Lancaster

Funeral services for Vera Margaret Lancaster, 92, of Cookeville will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Johnson and Bro. Charles Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 - 8 pm and again Saturday from 10 am until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Lancaster died Wednesday morning, November 30, 2011 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born June 27, 1919 in Sparta, TN to the late Pleas Anderson and Della Worley Swindell. Mrs. Lancaster was a homemaker and member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Herschel Swindell, Herman Swindell, Tom Swindell, Albert Swindell and Robert Swindell; and two sisters, Treva Reeves and Alberta Cayce. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Clarence R. Lancaster, (whom she married June 7, 1941 in Knoxville, TN); son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Claranell Lancaster of Cookeville; two grandchildren, Daniel Lancaster and his wife Andrea, Renea Lancaster-Smith and her husband Corey; seven great-grandchildren, Daniel, Abigail, Carter, Madison Lancaster, Preston and Savannah Parks, and Skyler Smith. Richard Clark, Bobby Swindell, Richard Swindell, Gary Swindell, Jerry Don Nash, Larry Reeves, Michael Helms and Shirley Wassom will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Daniel Lancaster and Preston Parks; Officers and Members of Putnam County Kiwanis Club, Officers and Directors of Putnam County Farm Bureau.
