Funeral services for Mr. Wallace Russell Dyer, 88 of Cookeville will be held Monday July 9 at 5 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro Johnny Fox will officiate. Mr. Dyer died Saturday morning July 7, 2012 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 29, 1923 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Everett Bazz and Ruby Lewis Dyer. Mr. Dyer was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II; retired from Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA); and of the Church of Christ Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearlie Bandy and Lucy Billingsly; and four brothers, Bazz Dyer II, Dillard Dyer, David Dyer, and Bernice Dyer. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Hazel Richmond Dyer (whom he married April 11, 1945 in Rossville, GA); son and daughter-in-law, Ronald L. (Ron) & Sara Dyer of Sugar Hill, GA; daughter, Linda Garrison of Cookeville; eight grandchildren, Angel Schmid, Mikal Dyer, Patrick Dyer, Sacha Wood, Justin (Gissell) Bretz, Kyla (Steven) Shelton, Tave Jo (John) Richardson, and Chris (Claudia) Bretz; ten great grandchildren; sister, Ona V (Finis) Fox of Dayton, OH; and two brothers, Jeff (Tane) Dyer of Nashville, and Carroll (Shirley) Dyer of Atlanta, GA. Pallbearers will be Bud Bandy, Dan Scott, Bob Meadows, Jeff, Mark, Keith, and David Lynn Dyer. Mr. Dyer"�s family will receive friends Monday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
