Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Grace Burton, age 86 will be held Saturday, September 5 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Justin Randolph will officiate. Nursing honors will be rendered by the Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. till service time at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing measures will be in place and her family respectfully asks that all guests wear face coverings. Mrs. Burton died Thursday morning, September 3, 2020 at Bailey Manor in Cookeville. She was born Wednesday November 15, 1933 in Cookeville, TN to the late Ben Caruthers and Vina Prichard Caruthers Hunter. Wanda was a dedicated nurse having worked at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and alongside Dr. James Shaw. She was a member of Bangham Heights Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jeff Davis Burton; sister, Lois Bryant, and by an infant sister. Mrs. Burton is survived by her three children, Mike (Cathy) Burton of Cookeville, Gale (Ricky) Maddux of Franklin, TN, and Teresa (Gary) Huddleston of Glasgow, KY; three grandchildren, Michael (Martha) Burton of Cookeville, Michelle (Dustin) Pate of Glasgow, and Rachel Maddux of Chattanooga; great grandchildren, Davis Burton and Avannah Banks of Cookeville; and one sister, Freda (James) Medley of Cookeville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family wants to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Bailey Manor and Kindred Hospice for their excellent care.
