Funeral services for Mr. William Crawford, 97 of Warren, Michigan and formerly of Cookeville will be held Wednesday January 23 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Bro Buddy Johnson will officiate. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time. Mr. Crawford died Saturday January 12, 2013 in St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital in Howell, MI. He was born August 9, 1915 in Cookeville, TN to the late Alvin Hawkins Crawford and Sallie Crawford. Mr. Crawford was raised on a dairy farm on Hawkins Crawford Road, which is still owned by his brother, Lavern. As a child, he attended the former Union Grove Presbyterian Church which was built on land donated by his father. He was a member of Van Dyke Church of Christ in Warren, MI and the United Auto Workers. He began his automotive career as a Gulf Oil Gasoline delivery Truck Driver in Lexington, KY; was a long-time employee of Dodge Main in Detroit; and was a retired Senior Machine Repairman with Chevrolet Gear and Axle also in Detroit. He was a member of Van Dyke Church of Christ in Warren, MI, and the United Auto Workers. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to camp, hunt, and fish. He loved to travel, visiting places throughout the United States, the Middle East and Europe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Opal Kirby Crawford; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Steakley, and Ruby L. Crawford; and eight brothers, Leonard E., Herman, Alvin, Ernest, Ben Hooper, George Clifford, James E. and Charles Darweda Crawford. Survivors include his wife, Imogene "Jean"� Williams Crawford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Crawford of Louisville, KY, Kenneth and Chris Crawford of Columbia, Maryland; two grandchildren, Colin Crawford and Kelsey Crawford; two step-daughters, Frieda Belanger of Taylor MI and Garenia Thomas of Sterling Heights, MI; six grandchildren, Scott, Cindy, Tim, Rich, Vanessa, and Denise; and his brother, Claude Lavern "Burn"� Crawford of Cookeville.
