Funeral services for Mr. Willie Campbell Huddleston, age 86 of Cookeville, were held Thursday April 22, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Steve Thornton and Bruce Nesmith officiated. Interment followed in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. His family received friends Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and the use of masks were appreciated. Mr. Huddleston died Sunday April 18, 2021 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born May 25, 1934 in Putnam County, TN to the late Charlie and Bertha Bohannon Huddleston. Willie worked as the Putnam County Road Department for 25 years. He enjoyed working on his farm, bush hogging, tending to cattle, spending time in his barn and wheeling and dealing for farm equipment. He is remembered for the smile he always wore and for bring a sweet and pleasant person. He was a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives, Anna Jewell "Ann" Huddleston and Sue Copeland; brother, Ernel Huddleston; and by sisters, Alma Murphy, Edna Pritchard, Reva Bilbrey, Ruby Music and Bessie Cummings. Willie is survived by his wife of 12 years, Nancy Madewell Sullivan Huddleston; sons, Steve (Renee) Huddleston and Donnie (Shann) Huddleston; daughter, Judy (Jim) Nesmith; grandchildren, Cody Huddleston, Rachel Fisher, Alison (Andrew) Wisdom, Brandi Fain, Keisha (Ryan Johnson) Bellar, Austin Huddleston, Hanna Huddleston, Logan Russell and Delaney Russell, great grandchildren, Brayden Fain, Oliver Huddleston, Eliza Huddleston and Holland Wisdom; stepchildren, Carol (Gerald) Burgess, Chris (Shannon) Sullivan; and step grandchildren, Ben Burgess, Sam Burgess, and Tina Tutrow. Brayden Fain, Cody Huddleston, Austin Huddleston, Alex Sullivan, Ben Burgess, Sam Burgess and Ryan Johnson served as pallbearers. Memorial contributions suggested to be made to Caney Fork Baptist Church, 2404 Highway 70 East, Cookeville, TN 38506 and/or to Poplar Grove Baptist Church, 4365 Rocky Point Rd., Cookeville, TN 38506.
