COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Graveside services and interment for Ms. Adell Grogan, age 84, will be held Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm in Morgan Pippin Cemetery. Chaplain Chris Blair will officiate. Her family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Adell, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, left this life on Friday February 13, 2026, at her residence, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know her. Born on June 7, 1941, in Sparta, Tennessee, Adell lived a remarkable life filled with kindness, strength, and resilience.
Throughout her career, Adell dedicated herself tirelessly to her work. She contributed to the communities she called home, having worked at General Motors in both Michigan and Washington State, and later at Wilson Shirt Factory while living in Cookeville, Tennessee. Her work ethic was a testament to her tough-as-nails spirit, and yet, she was also a gentle soul who always saw the best in others. Adell's positivity was infectious, and she had a unique ability to uplift those around her with her encouraging words.
Adell was particularly known for her nurturing nature, especially when it came to her family. She cherished every moment spent with her daughters, Kathy Yeargan and Margie Rittenberry, and delighted in the laughter of her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Adell had a special penchant for feeding her grandkids, often serving up meals filled with love and care. These treasured memories of family gatherings and shared moments are held dearly in the hearts of her loved ones. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred Dyer; brothers, Glenn (Paula) Bumbalough and Stevie Bumbalough, and her cherished nieces and nephews.
While Adell’s immediate family continues to honor her memory, she is preceded in death by her parents, Tom Odis and May Randolph Bumbalough, her sister, Ailene Lorent, along with her brothers Clifton, Cletus, Melvin, and Frankie Bumbalough.
