Aline Francis Herron, a generous woman of faith, love, and devotion, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024, in her hometown of Cookeville, TN. Born on November 21, 1925, to the late Robert Taylor Parrott, Sr. and Delma Adams Parrott, Aline was a cherished member of the Cookeville community and to her church throughout her 98 years of life.
Aline's journey began as one of the Parrott siblings, and though she was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Walter Lex Herron, her son and daughter-in-law Glynon and Debbie Herron, her grandson Spencer Amonette, and her siblings Robert Taylor Parrott, Jr., her infant twin sister Pauline Isabel Parrott, Roy Parrott, Ruth White, Blanch West, Ray Parrott, Lucille Lofty, and John Ralph Parrott, her legacy is carried on by her loving family. She leaves behind her children Walter (Margaret) Herron, Robert (Diane) Herron, Marcia Curtis, Ann (Donald) Goldman, and Phillip Herron. Aline was a proud grandmother to Inge (Ed) Conway, Melissa (Brennan) Baird, Katherine (Justin) Lindsey, Hannah (Andy) Weber, Silas (Krista) Goldman, Shane Petit, Teresa Petit, and Titus Simmons. She was also a great-grandmother to Matthew (Kristin) McWilliams, Wyatt Baird, Christine and Catelyn Baird, Catherine Conway, Edison and Ethan Collins, Dylan Weber, Sophis Weber, Lucas Weber, Bowen Weber, Misha Goldman, Leo Goldman and Isaac Goldman and great-great-grandmother to Taylor, Jayda, and Kayliegh.
Aline's unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was one of the 17 charter members of Stevens Street Baptist Church, a testament to her enduring devotion to her community and to God. The church, a mission of Cookeville First Baptist Church, was formed by her parents, with her father constructing the first building. Aline's spirit and dedication to her faith in Jesus Christ were evident to all who knew her.
Widowed at any early age, Aline faced the world with determination and grace, raising six children on her own. Her children fondly remember her as a saint, a testament to her nurturing and selfless nature. Aline's love for life was undeniable, and she remained active in her passions well into her later years. She cultivated a vegetable garden every year and preserved the bounty of her harvest through canning until the age of 97, ensuring her family always had a taste of home.
Aline's hands were rarely still, as she found joy in gardening, fishing, embroidering, and quilting. She was known for her culinary skills, especially her cornbread and the homemade fudge she lovingly prepared each Christmas. Her sense of humor was as delightful as her cooking, bringing laughter and lightness to those around her.
Generosity and love were words that embodied Aline's essence. Her kindness touched the lives of many, and her legacy of love is woven into the fabric of her family and community. Aline lived a happy life, one that was full of love and cherished moments. Her memory will be held in the hearts of those who knew her as a symbol of generosity and unwavering love.
Aline Herron's life was a journey of faith, family, and joy. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind.
