Angela Anderson Burgess

BAXTER CHAPEL-Angela Joy Anderson Burgess, of Baxter, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at her home in Baxter at the age of 73. She was born on January 22, 1953, in Cookeville, Tennessee.

She attended Upperman High School. 

Angela will be remembered with love by those who knew her and by the family who shared in her life. She attended New Home Baptist Church until her health declined. She enjoyed reading, and she carried a deep interest in Political Science, a pursuit that reflected an engaged mind and a thoughtful spirit.

Above all, Angela’s life was rooted in family. She is survived by her husband, Colon Burgess, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage, and by their children, son Justin Burgess and daughter Jennifer Joy Burgess all of Baxter and several nieces and nephews. Their love and the life they built together stand as a lasting part of her memory, and those closest to her will continue to hold her in their hearts with gratitude and affection.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hara Lea Anderson and Ellen Catherine Shanks Anderson; her infant son and infant daughter; her sister, Judith Carol Anderson Thomas; and her brothers, Jerry Lee Anderson and Nathan Paul Anderson.

Angela’s memory will remain a treasured blessing to her family and all who knew her. May her life be remembered with love, and may those who mourn her find comfort in the bond they shared with her.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
