COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Anita Gail Napier, 76, of Cookeville, TN found eternal peace on Saturday June 6, 2026 following a hard fought battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was surrounded by her loving family at home who cared for her.
Born January 7, 1950 in Wheelwright, KY to the late Homer and Cynthia Fannin Dobbs. She was an original Coal Miners Daughter.
She married her high school sweetheart on February 7, 1966 and raised three of her greatest blessings. She loved her family and lived a Christ filled life taking care of others through her nursing career and ensuring all family and friends were always taken care of. She was always a phone call away. She loved her friends and playing cards on Thursdays. She enjoyed traveling and cooking, her girl trips with her daughters and granddaughter. Her beloved granddaughter, Ava Latta, was the love of her life and the favorite. They were best friends and shared an unbreakable bond.
Her smile, laugh and sense of humor has been a staple in not only her life but she passed that along with strength and love for Christ to her family.
She is survived by her three children; Kim (Mike) Maxwell of Baxter,TN, Keith (Stephanie) Napier of Savannah, GA and Cyndi Latta (JJ) Maxwell of Cookeville, TN; bonus daughters and loving caretakers, Carla Randolph and Kim Walker; grandchildren, Ava Latta, Emma Maxwell, Jonathon (Deana) Phillips, Satin (Robbie) Roberson, and Victoria Phillips; special friends, Jean Giezentanner, Carol Boles, Carolyn Mesler, Sue Henley, Carolyn Neal, Tessie Stanley, Jenean Lawson and June Foy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Cynthia Fannin Dobbs; her husband, Roger Napier (Married 1966); brother, Joe Cantrell.
Funeral services for Mrs. Napier will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 3:00 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Myron Greer officiating. Nursing Honors will be conducted by the Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard.
