MONTEREY CHAPEL - Ann Vaden, born on December 31, 1942, in Pickett County, Tennessee, embarked on her heavenly journey on January 15, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of love and strength. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her, remembered for her kind and loving nature.
A devoted homemaker, Ann demonstrated an unyielding work ethic throughout her life. She graduated from York Institute in Jamestown, TN, which set the stage for her lifelong commitment to hard work and service. Ann worked at Ely Walker Shirt Company, and alongside her husband, Teddy "Ted" M. Vaden, she co-owned the Cup & Saucer Restaurant for over a decade. Ann's dedication didn't stop there; she also managed and kept the books for her husband’s business, Music City Sewer & Drain, until their retirement in 2020. Throughout all her endeavors, Ann was not just a hardworking individual; she was the backbone of her family, putting their needs and happiness above all else.
Her proudest accomplishment remained her family. Ann leaves behind her beloved children: sons, Scott (Penny) Vaden, Jeremy (April) Vaden, and Jason (Dr. Amanda) Vaden; daughter, Tammy (Randy) Payne; along with her cherished grandchildren, Sydney (Shane Kelley), Jared Vaden, Kinsley Vaden, Damian (Erin) Payne, Rosa Payne, Cheyenne, and Tamaha Vaden. She is also survived by a sister, Catherine Weaver. She cherished every moment spent with them, sharing her passion for flowers, cooking, and canning, and instilling values of love and kindness in their hearts.
Ann was member of Monterey First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William "Bill" Reeder and Nancy Bond Reeder, and her late husband of 61 years, Ted. She is also reunited in heaven with her siblings: Minnie Ermine Finley, Johnny Martin Reeder, Alma Reeder Reagan, Velma Lee Pyle, James Tarrence Reeder, Georgia Martha Reeder Thompson, Foster Denver Reeder, and Irene Beaty, who have welcomed her with open arms.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23rd at 12:00 p.m. at Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Whittaker Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Harris will officiate.
