COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Annette Poston, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 11, 2025, at NHC of Cookeville. Born on November 15, 1938, in Wrightsville, Georgia, Annette was a beloved member of the Cookeville community and a cherished family matriarch.
Annette's career spanned several meaningful roles. She began her journey working at McCord Winn in Cookeville. She later became a talented hair stylist, a role she embraced for many years. Ultimately, she found her calling in the Putnam County Schools System, where she worked in the cafeteria at Algood and Northeast Schools until her retirement.
A strong-willed individual, Annette was not only a loyal and loving friend but also a devoted caregiver. She found tremendous joy in reading, never missing the chance to catch up on the news each day or immerse herself in a good book. Annette was a great cook who took pleasure in preparing meals for her friends and family. Her caring spirit touched the lives of many, and her memory will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Annette is survived by her son, Jerry Poston (Freida); her grandchildren, Amanda Manley (Travis), Sarah Short (Dustin), Frank Poston Jr. (Heather), and Jonathan Poston (Natalie); as well as her great-grandchildren, Adleigh Kait Poston, Paizley and Harper Short, Grayson and Gunner Poston; her brothers, Lewis Foskey (Marilyn) and Wendell Foskey (Kim); her sister, Patricia Anderson (Ernie);
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Poston; her loving parents, Marvin Foskey and Grace Cater Foskey Price; her son, Frank Poston Sr.; as well as her sister and brothers-in-law, Frankie Stewart (Lynn) and Johnnie Stewart (Bruce); and her brother, Rick Foskey.
A funeral service honoring Annette will be at 11 a.m. Saturday September 13 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Hollis Alexander and Gary Farris will officiate. Interment will follow at Pharris Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be Friday from 5 - 8 p.m and again Saturday from 10 - 11 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Frank Poston Jr., Jonathan Poston, Dustin Short, Travis Manley, Jeff Null, Brad Anderson, Scott Foskey, and Donald Robinson.
Annette Poston leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering spirit and the warmth she brought to so many lives.
